There’s quite a bit of stuff to cover today that doesn’t even have to do with the finale last night. Bachelor Nation stuff, rumors, stories, and then we’ll get to see some of the things we saw last night on the finale. Not necessarily a breakdown of the episode per se, since last night was really no different than any other final episode we’ve seen in the past. Heavy editing to make you think it’s one guy over another (and last night was even more over-the-top than usual), then in the end, it ends up being the person you were told about months ago. Moreso about things we saw during the ATFR, the audience, the masks, Brandon, Becca & Thomas, the final couple in their first public appearance as an engaged couple, etc. There was A LOT there. But I still have some house cleaning things to cover before we get to all that. PLUS, a few of your “Reader Emails” this week since there wasn’t enough to dedicate a full column to yesterday.
Starting with that, we are back to our regular schedule beginning in two weeks. Next week I’ll be taking off other than your podcast on Thursday which, fingers crossed, is with a former “winner” from this show that I’ve never had on before. Supposed to be recording today and that’ll run next Thursday. Tomorrow’s podcast is a Survivor finale recap with Stephen Fishbach, our resident “Survivor” expert. He’s great yet again as we tackle all the issues from this past season. A lot of good stuff in that one. You don’t want to miss it. But after that, starting the week of Jan. 3rd, Clayton’s season is on Monday’s, so you’ll have your recaps on Tuesdays, “Reader Emails” on Wednesdays, and podcasts on Thursdays. I would hope we’d be back to our normal batch of “Reader Emails” weekly since I have Tuesday to remind everyone. When the show is on Tuesday’s, it just seems to throw people off since most people email me after watching the show. So back to your regularly scheduled programming after the new year.
Probably the last time this will be addressed since the point I made from the very beginning was addressed, but Katie and John did an IG live at the end of last week and in it, Katie admitted if she had to do it all over again, she wouldn’t have done 12 Days of Messy. Now, whether she’s just saying that because of the backlash she got or if she truly means it, I guess only she knows, BUT, that was the only point I was ever trying to make when I brought attention to both what she and John said. It didn’t have to be done, and I think if she really thought about it, some day she’d realize it was a mistake that didn’t come off well. She seemingly admitted that on her IG live, so she realized it quicker than I thought she would. Good. Lets be done with it and move on. Lets hope that’s the last time we’ll ever have to address the mistake that was 12 Days of Messy. We all make em’. Glad she at least acknowledged for the first time maybe it wasn’t the smartest thing to do and she should’ve taken other people’s feelings into account, not just her own.
You guys, it’s happening. I’ve fought it long enough, but, it’s happening. Probably will be after the New Year starts and once we’re in to about Week 2 of Clayton’s season, but…I’ve decided to start making my presence known on TikTok. No, I won’t be doing dances, dubbing the Joe Byron stuff, or saying “bing bong” all day long. Ok, maybe I will say “bing bong” a few times. But no, TikTok became the most popular website in the world in 2021, surpassing Google. There’s money to be made there, and after speaking with a few people over the weekend, it doesn’t make sense for me not to be on it anymore. It’s too big. Now, will it replace anything you’re already getting? No. Everything else remains the same. I’ll just be adding TikTok as a way to reach more people and get spoilers out there.
Some of you consume everything I do. You read my tweets, you follow my IG, you read my column, and you listen to my podcasts. Some of you only do one of those things. Some of you do two. And some do three. What I’m trying to say is there’s so many different ways to consume information nowadays, that me as a creator, I have to tap into all of them. If you read the column and/or my IG, then you get your spoilers that way. But there are a ton of people who will start seeing my spoiler videos on TikTok now and will be hearing spoilers for the first time. I can’t tell you how many people in recent years as social media has expanded, who tell me they missed something I talked about because they only listen to my podcast, or only read the column, etc. So I’m gonna try as best as I can to give the same info on all platforms. Now, the content on TikTok will just be the spoilers to Clayton’s season. I’ve got a couple weeks to decide how I’m gonna present it because I’m not good with video. So yeah, expect that to come in the next few weeks. And oh yeah, if anyone has any ideas or thinks they want to run my TikTok account or be my social media manager, I think it’s something I could be looking to do. Shoot me any ideas you may have.
One thing about Clayton’s season before we get to last night. Yes, I’m aware of the images/story out there of one of Clayton’s women’s past. The IG site that reported it has 1,600 followers, they basically tagged all media and IG accounts about it hoping to gain traction, and no one else has run with it. I’d be surprised if they do. I think the question becomes how does ABC address it if it does hit the mainstream news? Because this is Disney/ABC we’re talking about. I’m sure they aren’t thrilled, not to mention, I would assume this contestant lied during their interview process. It’s still early. Lets see if it hits the main entertainment outlets before we dive into it and the ramifications it could have for her. I’m guessing a lot of you have no idea who I’m talking about or what her past was. It will stay that way unless the story is covered more nationally and not by some random IG account trying to garner attention for themselves.
