Because I’m a procrastinator when it comes to my podcast and I’m terrible at planning ahead, could have a little issue this week. The podcast guest I referenced yesterday that’s a name from Bachelor past who definitely will be an interesting guest, can’t record this week, so they will be on next week – fingers crossed. But as of now, I don’t have anyone just yet for tomorrow, so I’ll probably do some “Reader Emails” along with giving some BIP spoilers. Yesterday in my column I mentioned I only knew of one “couple.” Now I know more. However, new contestants are coming in as you know after every rose ceremony. So I only know which people coupled up after the first couple rose ceremonies. Doesn’t mean they’re madly in love and will be a couple throughout. I don’t know all of them, but I do know about 4 or 5 early “couples,” so I’ll give you those tomorrow. In the meantime, I do have some extra “Reader Emails” that you sent it this week that I’ll just save for the podcast tomorrow if I can’t get a guest today, plus any emails that you send in today will possibly get answered on the podcast as well, so get those in by around 5:00 CT today. If I do get a podcast guest today, then all those “Reader Emails” will just be in next week’s batch.
I think I’ve laid out around 32-34 names of contestants that I expect to see on Paradise this season. Well, here’s another 4 names that I can confirm are still down there that I hadn’t put out yet:
Men:
Brendan Morais (Clare/Tayshia’s season)
Aaron Clancy (Katie’s season)
Women:
Pieper James (Matt’s season)
Anna Redman (Matt)
So, I’m sure you all saw this article from earlier this month stating that Brendan and Pieper were dating. That was written before BIP even started filming. So if they’re dating, why are they down in Mexico? I’m not sure and we’ll need to see how it plays out down there, but just keep that article in mind once the show airs. What I can tell you is this: Brendan was original cast. Brendan has already given a rose to someone else that’s not Pieper. Pieper is a later arrival, so, lets see if Brendan just shit cans the one he’s already given a rose to, or, if he jumps to Pieper once she comes in. But yeah, I think it’s clear production purposely waited til Brendan gave his rose to someone else before deciding to bring Pieper in. But if they were already dating and this is pre-planned, gonna be interesting to see if they pretend like they weren’t, or, if they just go with it and let everyone know.
Ratings are in from Monday night and the show dipped a little bit from the premiere – 3.3 million viewers vs 3.6 million & and a .8 rating vs .9 last week. However, it once again won the night in the 18-49 demo. And lets not forget, the 18-49 demo includes both men AND women. Ratings and demos are broken down even further when it comes to advertisers, and although it’s not posted, if it did a .8 with all people 18-49, that means it did even better in the Women 25-54 demo, which is the most coveted demo by advertisers. There was only one other show on network TV that drew more viewers than “Bachelorette” Monday night, and that was “The Neighborhood,” which drew 100k more with 3.4 million viewers.
Something interesting in the Chris Harrison story that I wasn’t aware of until this story came out 4 days ago. We all knew that Chris had hired an attorney. What I didn’t know was that one of the people he hired was the attorney that Mike Fleiss’ wife hired when they had their domestic dispute that played out publicly a couple years ago. Verrrrrrrrrry interesting. You can relive all those happy moments in this story. But you better have a vomit bag close to you while re-reading the events that took place, what she accused him of, the things he said to her, and how a couple months later, everything was fine and now they’re all one big happy family. It’s disgusting, frankly. Pure speculation on my part, but I gotta believe Fleiss knowing that Chris had his wife’s former lawyer repping him, not that they would violate attorney/client protocol, but I think that was the shot ABC needed to know that Chris wasn’t messing around. Has Fleiss said one word about Chris since this all happened? Has he thanked him for 19 years of service? Nothing? Well, I think you know why now. Fleiss saw that Chris was possibly going to play real dirty here, they settled, and gone on their merry ways. Chris knows where ALL of Fleiss’ skeletons were buried, and Fleiss knows that he knows. Money certainly talks, that’s for sure.
